Meatless soup |
Last Monday, I blogged about a special diet. The Sacred Heart diet consists of mostly vegetables. It leaves out the meat. The concept is to help you lose weight. It sounded like a good idea.
I did well on the first 24 hours. I had lots of energy.
After that, I felt sick.
I don't think this diet is for everyone. It definitely wasn't for me. I think my makeup and my conditions require a different diet. For example, I need meat in most, if not all, of my meals.
Going 24 hours without meat was difficult. I think more than that would not have been possible for me. Needless to say, I quit the diet. I became sick. My stomach was distended.
I was very uncomfortable. I felt nauseous. I felt I would throw up at any moment. I'm gonna be honest: I consumed some Tums tablets and some liquid antacid, to no avail. It was one of the most horrible experiences.
Who would have thought that such a wonderful seeming soup could cause such discomfort?!
I think several conditions came against me:
Bloating due to hormones;
Eating dairy the day before, which doesn't always agree with me;
My body might require meat to breakdown foods;
Drinking water bloats me (and I drank a lot);
The amount of curry I used was too much;
I get bloated often enough;
Never had used curry before; and
The soup used lots of carrots, which I might not do well with normally.
Will I ever try this diet again? No. Will I try something similar? Yes. I will add meat and potatoes in the future. I will also check the amount of spices I use, too.
Well, thanks for reading my update. I felt like a failure, but I learned that my body requires a different kind of diet. I'm bound to attempt other ways to get healthy. My quest was not just to lose weight. I wanted to feel healthy, and that did not happen for me with this diet.
How about you, my readers? What diets have you tried? Have you tried the Sacred Heart diet? Would you still use the Sacred Heart Diet, even though it didn't work for me? I encourage you all to do your research to figure out what diet is right for you. You should also inform your doctors before trying any diet. I don't think this diet is for diabetics. I was hungry so I ate too much soup. This diet was too restrictive for me.
