The Intention of My Blog

Welcome, my beloved readers!

In case you're wondering, it's not a typo up there for you see the definition of goodly is:

used as an adjective to describe something
1. of ample or good size, ex: a goodly amount.
2. of a fine appearance, ex: a goodly young man.
3. Archaic. of good quality, ex: a goodly gift.

I am a mother who home educates her children; I would be pleased if you'd look around. You never know if I might have something to your liking. I've blogged about different topics. I hope you enjoy your stay here. May God bless you with peace, a renewing of your mind, and rest as you read my posts.

Please remember to subscribe to my blog, using any variety of methods, which are below to the right, including Facebook.

Thanks to all for your patience as I have been on the mend. I had double heart bypass surgery in February of 2013, and I needed to focus on my recovery, which has been in steady progress. Thanks for your kind consideration.

Submarine Sandwiches

Turkey Swiss submarine sandwich

A submarine sandwich, or sub, is a versatile food.  You can add or subtract any ingredients you like.  A sub, for short, is also referred to as a hoagie, Po' Boy or Dagwood sandwich.  I love eating these from SUBWAY, the restaurant.  Unfortunately, I can't always afford to go there so it's easier to buy the ingredients and make them at home.

Ingredients for a sub sandwich
Here are the simple ingredients for a submarine sandwich:

--Spinach or lettuce
--Tomatoes
--Submarine rolls (wheat)
--Turkey breast or other luncheon meat
--Swiss cheese or other kind
--Philadelphia cream cheese (optional)

Plain sub sandwich

I like mine with black olives and green bell peppers.

My kids like their sandwiches plain.  Some like mustard on it.  Some like it with spinach.  It doesn't matter what you want, every sub can be made according to your wants and needs.  I know SUBWAY even makes some with meatballs.

There are some considerations: You can add any condiments.  You can freeze the rolls so they won't rot.  You can cut your finished submarine sandwich in half and eat the rest later.  The more choices for filling, the more fun it is to make your subs.  Finally, get your kids involved in making them; it's fun to watch them make their own subs.

Well, thanks for reading about how to make
a simple submarine sandwich

I hope you enjoyed this blog entry as much as I enjoyed writing it.
Please consider sharing it with others.

What about you, my readers? Do you like submarine sandwiches? What would you add to or subtract from your sub?  Subs are so versatile.  Try one, and you'll love their simplicity.

May God bless you with His peace and wisdom, my beloveds.

Variations on a Sandwich

Healthy, delicious sandwich

I am down to the wire, wondering what to blog about.  I applied to my husband, asking him what I should write.  He said I should leave it off for tomorrow, but I am adamant about blogging every day for this year.  He suggested I write about sandwiches.  Oh, there's a subject I haven't written about.

Here goes a lovely description about my version of a delicious sandwich.  I love adding healthy ingredients.   One can add any condiment of choice.  Any meat and vegetables can be included, too.  Enjoy the pictures.

Simple ingredients for a healthy sandwich

Easy ingredients:

Bread,
Turkey breast slices,
Cheese slice,
Spinach,
Tomatoes,
Mayonnaise

SaraLee bread with no high fructose corn syrup
My choice of condiment--mayonnaise
Sandwich assembled my way

A sandwich can be assembled in any way, as long as the ingredients end up in between the two slices of bread.  Of course, one bread can be used for a younger child.  Mustard can be used instead of mayonnaise.  Spinach and tomatoes can be left out.  In place of turkey breast slices, bologna or ham can be eaten.

Well, thanks for reading about my easy sandwich variations.  I hope this informs you all of quick sandwiches which can be thrown together.

What about you, my readers? Do you like sandwiches? Do you like cheese, tomatoes, and spinach in your sandwiches?

Combining these simple ingredients into a sandwich is wonderful.  I encourage you to get creative with quick meals.  You can use chicken or tuna salad as a meat ingredient.  Sandwiches should include ingredients from the recommended food groups, too.

May God bless you with His peace and wisdom, my beloveds.

Hard-Boiled Egg Sandwich

Eggs boiling

At this moment, I have two guests in my home--my nieces.  They are adorable little girls.  One is five months old and the other one is two years-old.  Needless to say, I am short on time.  That's why I asked my hubby to boil me some eggs.

Boiled eggs to be sliced
Spices to use

I gathered my simple spices--sea salt and paprika.  After hubby peeled the hard-boiled eggs, I sliced the one egg I was left with.  In the pot, three eggs were boiling.  The longer I took to eat my eggs, the less eggs I ended up with.  My husband and youngest child got the two other ones.

Simple hard-boiled egg sandwich

I like hard-boiled eggs.  They contain biotin, which is good for your hair.  I could use some help in that department.  Anyway, paprika is also good for you.  It is considered an anti-oxidant as it contains vitamin C; this is good for your immune system.

The sandwich is just what my tummy needed.  I ate it quickly.  Luckily, my thirteen year-old daughter helped with her young cousins.

Well, thanks for reading this
quick blog entry.
I hope you enjoyed it.

What about you, my readers? Have you ever tried a hard-boiled egg sandwich? Would you eat such a sandwich in the evening? Would you add other ingredients? I hope you would consider this simple sandwich. This is a wonderful snack.

May God bless you with His peace and wisdom, my beloveds.
